5262 Patty Taught by Shri-Lahn Newman/Wecare

I arrived at larry & Mattie Howard's Tuesday and met Johnathan Hoback their grandson. I asked Larry if Johnathan  was a christian and learned that Johnathan was of the faith only belief and they'd tried to reach him but with no success. This morning "14th" I asked the question, you know, the Salvation Highway. I got Johnathan's story, he was saved 2006 at a concert and several weeks later he was baptized. I asked, "do you understand baptism", "no" was his reply. "Well can I share with you how I found the Lord?" "Sure!" Well I sat down with Johnathan and Larry at the kitchen table and did the Gospel Presentation. Upon completion of the presentation I asked Johnathan to read Act 22:16 and give God your answer. He read Act 22:16 and you could see that stare, "I don't know what to say!". He saw something he'd never seem before. I asked him if he'd like to follow Jesus down into the water into his death where the blood is and be forgiven of his sins and redeemed by that blood and be buried with Jesus and to rise with Jesus to a newness of life? "Yes!",was his response,"we can do it now",was my response. "Let's do it!"
You now have a new brother in Christ!

Hey Partners,

Three years ago we conducted a We Care Campaign with Roberto Alvarez (and Martha) in Guatamala.  We baptized 93 during the Campaign and they reached seven more of our contacts within the next few days.  We were told that 80% of them remained faithful.  Presently we are all very concerned about Roberto and his family.  You probably know of the uprising there.  Roberto has received a death threat.  The death threat he received was evidently serious as they said if he didn't give them what they wanted (money) they would start killing his family. They named each of those in his family and said they knew where they lived. They also threatened the students and teachers at the church school; so he knows they know a lot about him, possibly someone who knows him well, or a close friend.  They thought about coming to the USA, as he has family in Nashville, but after praying about it they decided to ignore the threat and stay there. The police told him not to pay a ransom as it would only start them asking for more. He said he was involved in too much of God's work to give it up. What a brave man!

Please pray for him and his family and the school (600 students). We need God's intervention so he can keep doing the good work he does there!

I love you dearly,

Larry

A mini-campaign in Tooele, Utah, started off well Sunday morning. Pete Smith had been attending the church services for a couple of months. The preacher here, Harley Todd, had been trying to set up an appointment with him, but Pete kept putting it off. Sunday morning Harley told Mickael Moore (cadre) to “sic him.” Mickael took Pete during worship services and presented the Gospel to him. Pete had felt he was a Christian since he was three years old but had never obeyed the Gospel. When he saw the scriptures he knew exactly what he needed to do, so he obeyed the Gospel right after services.

Another rescue in Tooele, Utah! The team of Lou Guglielmoni (cadre), Dave Telgren (cadre), and Donna Smith (cadre) knocked on the door of Zana Nogales. When asked if she knew anyone who needed help, she replied she didn’t. They left her door and were knocking on the next door when she came out of the house and asked if we could help her with finding a job. We invited her to the building the next morning to have her talk with Harley Todd, the local minister. He gave her many pointers on job hunting in this area and the church supplied her with gas in order to drive around to make applications. She was not able to do that because of her limited funds. He also provided her with groceries. Zana’s salvation story was in line with obedience to the Gospel, so after the Gospel presentation she could see clearly that that is what she had done years ago. She saw the need to attend worship services and was restored to the Lord’s church. She came back that night for midweek services and said she and her four children and one grandchild would be back on Sunday. Zana is a very sweet lady who desires to serve the Lord. Her daughter, who was also in on the presentation, wanted to learn more before she made a decision. She has been studying with another group, so further study with her will be necessary.
